A monthly open mic for queer women of color and allies on the heels of its predecessor, POWWOW, Inc’s departure from hosting a weekly open mic for black lesbians. Held on Chicago’s predominately black southside at one of the city’s oldest gay bars, it has quickly become a support network for queer artists of color who often feel isolated from the larger queer community and events on the city’s north side.

Quare Square Collective, Inc. is an artists collective that seeks to support LGBTQ artists of color in the Midwest by facilitating collaborative works; marketing and advertising; and publication and performances.

Quare Square Collective envisions artists that are able to produce their works free of race, class, gender and sexual identity-based impediments that often limit LGBTQ artists of color.
