The WSSS LGBT Seniors program serves LGBT seniors and allies 55 and up in the western suburbs of Chicago. We offer outreach, socialization, health education, education on local, state, and federal programs for seniors, case management, and mental health counseling, all for free. We believe it is vital for LGBT Seniors to have a safe and supportive space to be themselves without worry of discrimination. Because many LGBT older adults have experienced social stigma, prejudice, and discrimination throughout their lives, it is important that aging service providers attain the training, sensitivity, and knowledge needed to serve the growing LGBT Senior population. We believe that providing supportive, tailored outreach and programming to LGBT seniors can help provide individuals with a respectful, empowering experience that can enhance health and well-being. The WSSS LGBT Seniors Program will strive to create both specific programming for LGBT seniors and an overall agency culture which are culturally sensitive and respectful.

Crazy Crafters – Every Monday we have our weekly Crazy Crafters night from 7-9PM. Please join us for fun crafting and conversation. Beginners welcome!

Monthly Movie Night – The fourth Wednesday of every month (will change to the 3rd Wednesday of each month in April 2014) from 4-6 PM we host a movie night. Movies shown reflect an LGBT theme and speak to the experience of being LGBT.

Ballroom Dancing – Please join us for a two hour ballroom dancing class. All skills levels, including beginners are welcome. Ballroom dancing classes recur every 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 2-4 PM.

The LGBT Seniors Program now offers free case management and mental health counseling to program participants (LGBT Seniors 55 and up in the western suburbs)
